This is an East/West fusion piece combining elements of English Restoration drama and the Bunraku puppet tradition of Japan. Each puppet is
manipulated by three performers dressed in black. The words are spoken by a narrator who sits off to the side. It is a highly stylized form
of theatre incorporating gesteral poses for climactic moments.
ANABELLA and her brother GIOVANI confess their incestruous love and plan to run away together.
(The puppets are carved in wood and painted with a glue and tempera mixture. Their heads turn and nod,
their eyes open and shut and their fingers are articulated. Approx. 4'0".)
SORENZO dances triumphantly as he sings of his jealous plot to
destroy the young lovers. (Wood, paint, fabric.. Aprox. 4'0".)
