          - work with 3rd grade students to create hand puppets and stage a      performance based on student’s dreams / 2nd graders created shadow          plays based on cycles

February 2006  / West Elementary, Bryson City, NC

          4th grade students created shadow puppets to present familiar “Tall Tales”

November 2005 / C. C. Pinckney Elementary School, Columbia, SC

          4th grade students built and performed with hand puppets in varied curriculum           areas including cycles, diversity, and folk tales.

          3rd grades – shadow puppets and Egyptian mythology

          4th grades – foam puppets and NC environmental geography

          5th grades – overhead projectors and world history

          7th grades – African puppets and African culture

HIGH SCHOOL

 

January 24-28,2007 / Uintah High School, Vernon High School

          -worked with high school students, teachers, and community volunteers to learn           techniques to create costumes for Disney’s “Beauty and the Beast.”

March 2006 – Project Extreme – Graham and Swain County, NC

       After school program with high school students using overhead projectors to        create animation resembling music videos.

March - April 2006 – Reynolds High School, Asheville, North Carolina

           High School Theatre and Art students created costumes for Disney’s         “Beauty and the Beast.”

February 2006 / Richland One School district,  Columbia, SC

          Created puppets honoring Mozart and staged a performance with All           County Theatre students in Middle and High School

 

TEACHER TRAINING

 

August 2007 Broward Arts & Integration Institute, Broward County, Florida

       2 part workshop on using overhead projectors in the classroom

May 18-19 2007 /Forsythe County Schools, Winston-Salem, NC

          present a PowerPoint on the History of Puppetry and a hands on        experience with shadow puppets, overhead projectors, and hand puppet    manipulation for drama, art, and media specialists in the district.

February 16 – 18 2007/North Carolina Theatre Arts Educators (NCTAE): Winter Focus

          The goal of the weekend was to provide an experience with Non-Western           Traditional Theatre which teachers could then apply in their classrooms.     Red Herring provided a power-point demonstration on The History of         Puppetry, a hands on workshop in the construction of Bunraku puppets,        and Indonesian shadow theatre.

          2 part workshop on puppet manipulation for camera and one workshop on Critical Response.

          Co-facilitate a 6 week class at AB Tech to introduce community members to puppetry and create several small productions.
