| A king asks his three daughters, "How
much do you love me?" He is satisfied with comparisons to diamonds
and gold, but is shocked as the youngest replies, "I love you more
than salt."
Set in a medieval folk tale, this unique
presentation incorporates elements from ancient times to modern science.
It is a humorous and enlightening adventure through the history, chemistry,
harvesting, industrial usage, and nutritional value of salt. Two actors
enliven the story with beautifully crafted rod puppets and wacky whimsical
props.
"The Salt Crystal" was created
with the help of a "New Works" grant from the North Carolina
Arts Council, a state agency. The production was also sponsored in part
by a contribution fro the Grain and Salt Society. |
